The story of Surf Getaways
Surf Getaways was created by one of Australia’s most accomplished and accredited female surf coaches, Serena Adams and Belinda Bradford an avid traveler, surfer, and experienced commercial marketer and entrepreneur. Their aim was to make surfing accessible for women of any age.Together they began to develop a concept of introducing as many women as possible to the joys of travel and surfing. They wanted to develop a unique environment to teach and coach women to surf. The surf tours they have developed focus on introducing women to surfing and the ocean for the first time as well as coaching advanced surfers towards achieving their next milestone. They know they could do this by combining their unique coaching program with ‘bucket list’ surfing destinations that have previously been out of reach for anyone but the experienced surfer and traveler.With Surf Getaways, you will not only be supported in improving your surf skills, fitness and confidence, you will also have the opportunity to enjoy a unique travel experience to some of the most pristine ocean environments on earth.
Meet the founders
Serena Adams
Director of Coaching
Originally from South Australia, Serena inherited a love of surfing and a passion for teaching from her family. She began surf coaching in 1986 and founded her own surf school company, Surfing Byron Bay, with husband Matt in 1997 (now Lets Go Surfing Byron Bay).
As a Surfing Australia accredited Master Coach, Serena has trained a generation of surf-instructors and shared her knowledge and experience all over the globe with tens of thousands of women, men, and grommets of all surfing abilities. The energy and vitality that Serena brings becomes a powerful motivator and translates into pure enjoyment for anyone she meets.

Belinda Bradford
Managing Director
Belinda started surfing whilst living in Hawaii and hasn’t stopped trying to improve since. Her passion for surfing, the ocean and travel in general has taken her to coastal destinations on either side of the globe, chasing crystal clear water and warm sunshine in places such as Maldives, Fiji, Spain, USA, Sri Lanka, Mexico, Belize, Cuba, Greece, India, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Vanuatu, Cook Islands, Tahiti, and Morocco. Of course, the east coast of Australia and Margaret River region in Western Australia have also had a visit.
Other diverse destinations she has visited over the years include The Netherlands, France, Austria, Finland, Norway, UAE, Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Italy, Czechoslovakia, Switzerland, Bhutan, China, Singapore, Hong Kong, Belgium, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Peru, Argentina, Bolivia, Guatemala, the UK, New Zealand, Japan, Papua New Guinea and Bahrain.
Belinda’s travel itineraries have included humble backpacking journeys through to high-end 6-star experiences in some of the world's top luxury boutique hotels, all of which she uses to ensure the Surfgetaways travel experience is a fantastic one for every one of its guests.
Professionally, she is an experienced commercial marketer and entrepreneur having previously started businesses from fleeting ideas that have gone on to achieve recognized market success. Belinda has also had senior management roles at Qantas Airways, Optus and Time Warner Company to name a few. She has lived and worked in Australia, Hong Kong, Philippines, USA, and Indonesia.
